What is Main Street Fair?
We are an online shopping site that you can buy or sell new and used items. Ten percent of Main Street Fair's income from its listing and final sales fees are donated to the school of your choice within the United States. Choices include but are not limited to elementary and high schools.
How do the schools receive the money?
Each quarter, Main Street Fair presents schools sellers have chosen with a check for the amount of 10% acquired from its earnings of listed items and final value fees. You do not have to donate anything. All you need to do is register which school you want Main Street Fair to donate to. If for whatever reason the school does not accept the donation, Main Street Fair will forward that contribution to another school in or near that zip code area.
How to choose the school you want Main Street Fair to donate to
Upon registering, you have been asked to either choose the school you want us to donate to or, if the school is not listed in our database, input the information yourself. You will need the school name, state and zip. If did not know this information at the time of registration and want to donate to a school, you will need to re-register. If the school is not listed, a pop-up box will appear asking for the name of the school, state and zip that you want Main Street Fair to make its donation.
How to list an item
There are two ways to list: Classified Ads and Auction. Several categories are limited to Classified Ads because of interstate commerce law and, in the case of pets, because we feel it is the right thing to do. Information you've provided during registration determines what school you want Main Street Fair to donate to.

What is a Dutch Auction?
Definition: In a Dutch Auction, the seller is auctioning two or more of an identical item. Unlike a standard auction, a Dutch Auction may have more than one winning bidder.
Process: Each bidder bids on all or some of the auctioned items, indicating the price that he/she is willing to pay for each. At the auction's end, all winning bidders will pay the same price for each of their items, which is the lowest qualifying (successful) bid. If there are more successful bids than items, priority goes to the bidders who submitted their bids first.? To win against another bidder, a bid must simply have a higher total bid price per item than the other bids, regardless of the number of items bid on.
Example:
A seller lists a Dutch Auction with five identical items.
- Bidder "A" places a bid for two items at $20 each
- Bidder "B" places a bid for four items at $21 each
Outcome:
- Bidder A wins one item at $20.
- Bidder B wins four items at $21 each.
Bidder A is awarded only one item because bidder B bid a higher amount. Bidder A now has the right to refuse the purchase of this partial order.
