Free Program Helps Authors with Book Marketing September 10th, 2010

New program launches to help authors market books

Main Street Fair has launched its “Press for Press” program to help authors with book marketing!

Main Street Fair, the eBay alternative online auctions site, has launched a new program to help authors with book marketing.

The “Press for Press” program is twofold. First, Main Street Fair will select one author a month who has his or her book listed on the site. The online auctions company has hired Porter Public Relations, a Southern California-based firm, to write a press release about the chosen author’s book and distribute it through major online news distributors. The release, formatted and designed in a way that will effectively help authors with book marketing, will include links to the page on Main Street Fair where the book is listed for sale. People may purchase the book through Main Street Fair’s “Buy Now” service in just one click.

“Internet press releases are the perfect way for authors to establish an online presence, get their books known and increase sells dramatically,” said Main Street Fair Marketing Manager, Gabriel Reynaga. “This type of online marketing is powerful and reaches millions of potential buyers. Interested buyers will be able to directly contact the author or purchase it from the site. This is a $1350 value that authors are getting for free.”

The selected author will be invited to write a summary on Main Street Fair’s highly visited  blog to help further market the book.

Established authors also will benefit from the online auctions website’s Press for Press program. They too will enjoy the opportunity to write a blog about the book they have listed on Main Street Fair.

By posting the link from their press release to Twitter and Facebook, authors can then make their blog go viral. The process is simple and fast: authors send a request for approval via the site’s “Contact Us” form. Upon approval, the blog administrator will request photos of the author and book cover, and post the blog with hyperlinks to the page on Main Street Fair where the book is listed to make purchasing easy.

Main Street Fair helps sellers of all types of goods promote their items by writing reviews and inviting guest writers to boast about their product in the Main Street Fair blog.

Main Street Fair, the easy-to-use eBay alternative and free classified ads site, has many benefits and is straightforward about its fees. Listing an item cost nothing until it sells. When it does, the closing fees are much lower than its competitors and there are no hidden charges. As an added feature, the site donates 10 percent of all listing fees to the school of the seller’s choice.

“The site is about helping authors and other sellers promote their items,” said Reynaga. “It’s also about helping schools throughout America. If we can accomplish both, then we’ve helped a lot of people.”

The site also offers easy do-it-yourself bulk uploading capabilities. This allows sellers to upload from one Excel csv file, thousands of products at once into the main home page category and their own personal storefront category. It has a two-way rating system allowing sellers and buyers to rate each other. This is a benefit many other known auction sites don’t offer.

“We want this site to be as user friendly and fair as possible,” said Reynaga.

There are no unnecessary seller restrictions.

“Main Street Fair makes auction selling and buying easy and fun,” said Reynaga.

Sellers new to e-commerce auctions and marketplaces can visit the Main Street Fair blog to view a video on how to optimize their listings for better search engine optimization. The video was produced by world-renowned SEO Expert, Steve Wiideman as a contribution to Main Street Fair. Or, they can get selling tips by visiting the  ”Listing Guideline.”

The process is simple:

Step #1. – Authors list their books for sale on Main Street Fair.

Step #2. Authors send their blog, photos of the book cover and a headshot to media@mainstreetfair.com for approval by the blog administrator.

Step #3. Upon approval, the blog administrator will post the blog with hyperlinks to the listing page for easy purchasing.

Step #4 – An author will be selected for additional marketing. Porter Public Relations will write a press release and distribute it to major online news outlets. It will have links back to their blog and listing pages.

“The site is about helping authors and other sellers promote their items,” said Reynaga. “It’s also about helping schools. If we achieve our goals, then we will have helped a lot of people.”

YOUR VOICE MATTERS!

TELL YOUR EBAY STORY ON OUR BLOG.

To deliver the ultimate online auctions and free classified ads site, Main Street Fair is going directly to the source and asking eBay sellers to share their tales on the Main Street Fair blog. Those who want to participate should send their stories and any screen shots, diagrams, photos, screen shots, or charts to media@mainstreetfair.com.

“We want to know what sellers want and need to make their selling experience as good as it can be,” said Lisa Porter, CEO, Main Street Fair. “We are continually on the lookout for new ways of doing things more efficiently.”

Main Street Fair is gaining popularity in the online auctions world as an eBay alternative. The e-commerce site strives to support sellers in ways that extend beyond a mere “thank you.”

First, Main Street Fair offers an array of programs to help its sellers. “Press for Press” is one such program that helps book authors. In this program, authors have the chance to get free marketing. To make the Press for Press program successful, Main Street Fair has contracted with a Southern California-base PR firm, Porter Public Relations, to write a monthly press release about books culled from listings on the Main Street Fair site. It also posts blogs written by authors on its site, with hyperlinks to the actual book listing, to make for an easy purchase.

“Our intent is to help sellers sell and buyers have a pleasant and easy purchasing experience,” said Porter. “If someone is looking for an alternative to eBay, we want it to be Main Street Fair. We vow to continue working diligently to gain the respect and support of online sellers by giving them what they need to make money and keep their profits.”

Too, Main Street Fair offers a two-way rating system, bulk uploading capabilities for people with multiple items, and writes blogs about its seller’s products.

Second, the site donates a good percentage of its intake from online auction listing fees to the school of the seller’s choice. While the auction fees are some of the lowest, schools can earn significant sums from sellers worldwide.

“America’s schools are in a huge financial bind. We can help,” said Porter, who is a single mom and sat on the School Site Council at her daughter’s elementary school. “Sellers choose what school gets the donation made by Main Street Fair. It is our way of elevating fundraising for schools to a new level where they can earn money 24/7.”

Main Street Fair is reaching out to its audience for new ways to make this the #1 online auctions and free classified ads platform. By offering eBay sellers a chance to talk about their experiences, Main Street Fair’s management team hopes to gain insight as to what works and what doesn’t, and according to Porter, the people that buy and sell know best.

Safe Fundraising Option for Schools August 26th, 2010

Online Auction

The school year is about to start or has already started. Time to get your checkbooks ready because the kids are coming to sell you stuff that you honestly don’t need. Today’s youth are not only expected to get great test scores, but also expected to fundraise for their schools. This puts a lot of pressure on them. Also going door to door selling wrapping paper isn’t the safest activity for our kids to be doing. Why don’t we take the fundraising burden off their shoulders, and make it safe by giving it back to the parents, where it belongs? We all have stuff we want to get rid of and we all want our schools to have funding, so the solution is an Ebay alternative called Main Street Fair. It’s a great online auctions site where 10% of it’s revenue from listing fees goes to the institutions that need it most, our schools. I know what you’re thinking that selling stuff online is too time consuming. It’s not safe. Everything is over priced and it will probably cost me more because of the fundraising component. Well with Main Street Fair you don’t have to waste your time in the bidding wars that you tend to find yourself in when you use Ebay; there is no price manipulation like there can be with other auction sites and you won’t have to pay anything extra. Main Street Fair is not only a great alternative to Ebay, but it’s a much safer way of fundraising because, (lets be honest) you never know who is lurking behind the door your children are knocking on.

If it’s a product review, include as much detail as possible. If you are selling your item as an online auction Buy Now or as an online bidding auction, don’t forget to put a call to action. For example “Purchase your book today by clicking here.” If you would like, Main Street Fair editors can edit your blog for you. Alphabet Teaching DVD Hot Seller at Online Auctions Site August 16th, 2010

Let’s hear it for making it easy for kids to learn and parents to tolerate!

Baby Inklings sold on online auctions site Main Street Fair

Baby Inklings is a Great Learning Tool to Teach the ABCs

BABY INKLINGS – The DVD that teaches imaginative combination of music, animation, video and images to teach kids the alphabet.

As a parent raising kids in the 80’s, I give thanks everyday to have been blessed with easy-to-live-with characters for my kids — G.I. Joe, Transformers, Mr. Rogers and the beloved Sesame Street. To be blunt, I wouldn’t have survived the era of Barney. And today, it’s Dora, Diego, Olivia and SpongeBob that have the kids’ eyes and ears. These are all elaborate, manufactured and sorta “all the same” animations with predictable music, plots and moves. Ho-hum stuff, for me and the kids.

Enter, stage right, Baby Inklings, a video on DVD produced by Suite Imagery and offered on the online auctions site Main Street Fair, that changes things up a bit so that you don’t want to bang your head against the wall when your kid sings a song for the 500th time. In a DVD called “Alphabet Discovery,” they present the alphabet with a unique piece of music for each letter, and very different animated objects for the representative letter. And for a special treat – wait for it! – Inky Starr makes special appearances to break up the progression and provide a fun break from learning letters. In less than 30 minutes, a child is exposed to visual and auditory learning so basic to learning, and it’s actually enjoyable and not annoying. Baby Inklings learning DVD can be purchased for only $12.95 easily on this online auctions and free classified ads site.

The Baby Inklings DVD creators observed their own kids to ensure the DVD would be a true learning tool that developing minds would be receptive to. These two dads even let their children take part in producing it by letting them help generate the background audio, so it has a very real sound rather than “manufactured.” Some of the music is old school and even gets my toes tapping! I’ve road-tested this baby with an antsy 2 year old and after one showing he was asking for it again.

We’re all looking forward to their next release, Baby Inklings Colorful Wonders, due out soon. Check out Baby Inklings Alphabet Discovery and purchase a few copies for baby shower gifts, birthday presents, or just-for-the-heck-of-it for a kid you know, right here on Main Street Fair, your favorite online auctions and free classified site that donates to America’s schools.
